Time flies. We get so involved in our daily lifestyles that we lose track of time. One day, it hits us & it hits us hard. A chat with our younger sibling& we are all like “Hey! Where did my childhood go?” They keep on bragging about their new collections of toys with sci-fi tech that we might have never even imagined back in our days. We rush to look at the old memories that we had safely kept in the garages for so long only to realize later on that we are not young anymore. 10 PHONE WITH A CORD?
Remember those big, clunky devices with cords twisted in a snake-like pattern that used to ring like a siren all the time. No modified caller-tunes, no voice boxes, no caller ids. Just the metallic boxes that we cannot even carry from places to places. There were hours we used to spend, standing at the same place, blabbering non-stops with our BFF’s, stretching & curling those spiral cords between our fingers.
9 Wall-E like projectors!
Have you watched the film Wall-e. The lead character in the epic animation movie sort of looked like the overhead projectors prevailed back the 80’s. These projectors were the most common fixtures of our classrooms, mostly dedicated to displaying images to the audience.
8 COMPLEXITY OF CHOOSING FAVOURITE WORD STLE
Remember when choosing between all sorts of styles & fonts was the most difficult decision of our life. The boredom in those lessons led us to the magical word of the MS-Paint & Word. Where did that time go?
7 LEVER TO ROLL THE WINDOW IN CARS
In a world where every other machine is automatic or semi-automatic, hardly anyone remembers the hardships that we went through with manual machinery. That long, slow & tedious task of rolling up &down the window. Phewww…! It took us forever just to slide a window up.
6 ENDLESS STRUGGLES TO REWIND A CASSETTE
Do you remember those compact cassettes that were all we had to cherish the music we like? Or the reeling sound it used to make as we make changes in the tracks? 3 VCRs: ANOTHER ONE FROM THE LEGACY OF CASSETTES
Video Cassette recorders targeted the audience highly interested in video systems. Imagine watching our favorite television program. All of a sudden mom tells us to go buy groceries from the market. Remember what we used to do? Right, record them on VCRs to enjoy them later on.
2 CREATING YOUR OWN ANKLE SOCKS?
Today, you can find a variety of socks in the online shopping apps. The list goes from crew length socks, quarter length socks to no show socks. But, back in those days, nobody paid much attention to socks. They were mostly calf length & sluggish. So for those who did, they had to create socks of their own by folding them one underneath another in half. Amusing right?
1 NINTENDO ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM: THE PS4 OF OUR TIME
The 8-bit home video console of Nintendo took the world of gaming to a whole new level. I reminisce saving pocket money just so could I buys more and more of the Game Paks.
